Gera – Rechtsextremer Aufmarsch, „Familienfest“ und antifaschistische Intervention
Unter dem Motto „Mach Frei am Ersten Mai – Gegen Faschismus, Repression und Kapital“ findet am 01.05.2025 in Gera eine breit aufgestellte Demonstration gegen einen Neonazi-Aufmarsch statt. Die Kundgebung startet auf dem Sachsenplatz, zieht von dort über den Zschochernplatz bis zum Museumsvorplatz und endet in unmittelbarer Nähe der rechtsextremen Abschlusskundgebung. Hier wird es neben lautem Gegenprotest und Redebeiträgen auch Infostände und eine Küche für Alle geben.
Anlässlich des Ersten Mais, dem Kampftag der Arbeiter*innenbewegung, wollen Neonazis in Gera einen Aufmarsch, sowie eine Kundgebung mit Auftritten von rechtsextremen Musikern, die als „Volks-“ und „Familienfest“ beworben wurde, mit bis zu 2.000 Teilnehmenden veranstalten.
Gera ist ein Hotspot der rechtsextremen Szene. Neben langjährigen Akteuren wie Christian Klar, der dem Umfeld des Thüringer Heimatschutzes entstammt und heute im Bundesvorstand von Die Heimat (ehemals NPD) sitzt, bildeten sich in der jüngeren Vergangenheit rechte Jugendgruppen wie die Gersche Jugend, die Christian Klar bei seinen „Bürgerwehr“-Patrouillen begleitet und regelmäßig durch das Skandieren von Rechtsrock-Liedern in der Innenstadt auffällt. Auch im Umfeld der BSG Wismut Gera gibt es mittlerweile gewaltbereite, rechte Jugendgruppen wie Kommando075, die erst kürzlich mit einem Mob-Foto vor dem Büro der Partei Die Linke auffielen. Bereits 2023 haben Rechtsextreme eine Geflüchtetenunterkunft belagert und mit rassistischen Liedern beschallt, während Versammlungsbehörde und Polizei tatenlos zusahen. In der lokalen Presse findet all dies jedoch wenig Beachtung: Die Ostthüringer Zeitung thematisiert die rechten Umtriebe kaum und scheint gar nicht erst zu rechtsextremen Strukturen in dieser Stadt zu recherchieren. An diese Tendenz wird aktuell angeknüpft: Während Neonazis bundesweit nach Gera mobilisieren, schweigen sich Stadt und Lokalpresse darüber aus.
Eine Sprecherin der Organisator*innen sagt dazu: „Ganz bewusst starten wir auf dem Sachsenplatz in jenem Teil der Stadt, welcher in der Niederträchtigkeit, die sich selbst „Volksmund“ schimpft, abwertend als „Klein Aleppo“ bezeichnet wird. Wir wollen unsere Solidarität mit denjenigen marginalisierten Menschen zeigen, die an diesem Tag besonders gefährdet sein werden.“
Ein weiterer Sprecher ergänzt: „Es ist wichtig, das Schweigen der Stadtbevölkerung in Gera zu brechen. Rechtsextreme dürfen hier keinen Platz haben! Besonders gespannt sind wir auf das Verhalten des Ordnungsamtes und der Polizei, die unsere Demonstration am 01. Mai 2023 gewaltvoll aufhielt, mehrere hundert Menschen ohne Zugang zu Toiletten über viele Stunden in einen Kessel zwang und anschließend große Teile der antifaschistisch engagierten Zivilbevölkerung mit Hausdurchsuchungen und Ermittlungsverfahren wegen Geringfügigkeiten überzog. Damit wurde ein weiteres Mal dokumentiert, wo die Polizei ihre Gegner*innen sieht. Auch hier erwarten wir, dass sich in Gera etwas verändert. Die Stadt ist noch nicht gefallen, auch wenn es einige Medien bereits so ausdrückten – das werden wir an diesem Tag zeigen!“

Gera – Right-wing extremist march, ‘family party’ and anti-fascist intervention
Under the slogan ‘Mach Frei am Ersten Mai – Gegen Faschismus, Repression und Kapital’, a broad-based demonstration against a neo-Nazi march will take place in Gera on May 1st 2025. The rally will start on Sachsenplatz, move from there via Zschochernplatz to the square in front of the museum and end in immediate vicinity to the far-right final gathering. In addition to loud counter-protests and speeches, there will also be information stands and food for everyone.
On May 1st, the international labour day, neo-Nazis in Gera want to organise a march and a gathering with performances by far-right musicians, which has been advertised as a “family festival” with up to 2,000 participants.
Gera is a hotspot for the far-right scene. In addition to long-standing players such as Christian Klar, who comes from the Thuringian Heimatschutz and is now a member of the federal board of the party ‚Die Heimat‚, right-wing youth groups such as the ‚Gersche Jugend‚, which accompanies Christian Klar on his ‘vigilante’ patrols and regularly attracts attention by chanting right-wing rock songs in the city centre, have formed in the recent past. There are now also violent, right-wing youth groups such as ‚Kommando075‚ in the vicinity of the football club BSG Wismut Gera, which recently attracted attention with a mob photo in front of the office of the Left Party. In 2023, right-wing extremists harassed a refugee centre and played racist songs while the assembly authorities and police stood idly by. However, none of this receives much attention in the local press: the Ostthüringer Zeitung hardly ever discusses the right-wing activities and does not even seem to investigate right-wing extremist structures in the city. This trend is currently being continued: While neo-Nazis are mobilising nationwide to Gera, the city and local press are keeping quiet about it.
A spokesperson from the organisation-team says: ‘We are deliberately starting on Sachsenplatz in the part of the city that is derogatorily referred to as “Little Aleppo” by many. We want to show our solidarity with those marginalised people who will be particularly at risk on this day.’
Another spokesperson added: ‘It is important to break the silence of the city’s population in Gera. Right-wing extremists must have no place here! We are particularly concerned about the behaviour of the public order office and the police, who violently stopped our demonstration on May 1st 2023, forced several hundred people to stay put by surrounding them without access to toilets for many hours and then subjected large sections of the anti-fascist civilian population to house searches and investigations for minor offences. This documented once again where the police see their opponents. Here, too, we expect something to change in Gera. The city has not fallen yet, even if some media outlets have already put it that way – we will show that on this day!’

Wir planen eine entspannte Demo. Falls es Probleme gibt oder ihr euch unwohl fühlt, könnt ihr euch bei den Ordner*innen oder dem Awareness-Team melden.
Wir möchten eine Demonstration ohne Territorial- und Parteifahnen. Zudem wollen wir keine Black-Block-Demo haben, auch wenn die Kleiderwahl natürlich jeder Person selbst überlassen ist.
Ein Black Block als Taktik kann bedrohlich und verschlossen wirken. Unsere Demo soll aber kein Szene-Event werden, sondern eine Alternative und ein Gegenpol zum faschistischen Selbstverharmlosungsversuch bilden. Wir wollen einen offenen 1. Mai und mit so vielen unterschiedlichen Menschen wie möglich unsere Forderungen auf die Straße tragen.
All das schließt eine kämpferische, laute und kraftvolle Demonstration nicht aus. Lasst uns deshalb dafür sorgen, dass niemand in der Stadt unsere Forderungen, aber auch unsere Wut über die herrschenden Zustände ignorieren kann!

We are planning a relaxed demo. If there are any problems or you feel uncomfortable, you can contact the stewards or the awareness team.
We want a demonstration without territorial and party flags. In addition, we do not want to have a black block demonstration, even if the choice of clothing is of course up to each person.
A black block as a tactic can appear threatening and closed off. However, our demo is not intended to be a scene event, but an alternative and a counterpoint to the fascist attempt to trivialize itself. We want an open May 1st and to take our demands to the streets with as many different people as possible.
All this does not exclude a strong, loud and powerful demonstration. So let’s make sure that nobody in the city can ignore our demands, but also our anger at the prevailing conditions!

Auch 2025 gilt es, die Kämpfe rund um den revolutionären 1. Mai auf die Straßen zu tragen! Denn das kapitalistische System ist ein spaltendes, es reißt einen Graben zwischen die Menschen. Deshalb wollen wir uns für die Unterdrückten dieser Gesellschaft einsetzen, für eine gerechtere Bezahlung und ein gutes Leben für alle. Unserem Willen, verschiedene Kämpfe solidarisch zusammenzudenken, wollen wir mit einem kämpferischen Demonstrationszug Ausdruck verleihen.
In Anbetracht des katastrophalen Ausgangs der 1.-Mai-Demo 2023 mit Repressionen in Form von Hausdurchsuchungen, Strafbefehlen und Gerichtsprozessen wollen wir zeigen, dass wir uns nicht unterkriegen lassen und weiterhin Seite an Seite auf der Straße stehen!
Eigentlich sollte nach zwei Jahren in Folge 1.-Mai-Demo in Gera dieses Jahr eine andere Stadt unterstützt werden. Aufgrund eines groß angelegten Fascho-Aufmarsches in Kombination mit einem „Familienfest“ rund um den Neonazi Christian Klar mit bundesweiter Mobilisierung und sich abzeichnender Teilnahme rechtsextremer Jugendgruppen können wir aber nicht tatenlos zusehen. Ihr Ziel ist es, den 1. Mai in klassisch nationalsozialistischer Manier für eigene Zwecke zu missbrauchen und sich Bürger*innen-nah zu präsentieren. Mit einer Abschlusskundgebung in direkter Nähe der als „Familienfest“ getarnten Hetzveranstaltung mit Beteiligung von „Die Heimat“ (Ex-NPD) und „Freie Sachsen“-Kadern, sowie rechtsextremen Liedermachern, werden wir uns ihnen unmittelbar entgegenstellen und zeigen, dass sie weder in Gera noch in irgendeiner anderen Stadt willkommen sind.

Informationen zur Barrierefreiheit: Nur ein kleiner Teil der Demoroute wird ebenerdig und damit barrierefrei sein, an anderen Stellen geht es teils etwas steiler bergauf. Außerdem gibt es Kopfsteinpflaster. Das liegt sowohl an den räumlichen Gegebenheiten in Gera als auch daran, dass die Faschos eine ebenerdige Route bereits angemeldet haben. Es wird aber möglich sein, den Demonstrationszug an der ersten Steigung zu verlassen und direkt barrierefrei zur Kundgebungsfläche zu gelangen. Ansonsten wird es auch solidarische Menschen geben, die ihre Hilfe bei der Überwindung der Steigung anbieten werden. Meldet euch bei Fragen gerne bei @aktionantifagera.

In 2025, the struggles surrounding the revolutionary May 1st must still be taken to the streets! Because the capitalist system is divisive, it tears a rift between people. That is why we want to stand up for the oppressed in this society, better wages and a good life for all. We want to express our goal to unite different struggles in solidarity with a fierce demonstration.
In retrospect of the dramatic outcome of the May 1st demonstration in 2023 with repression in the form of house searches, penalty orders and court cases, we want to show that we will not be defeated and will continue to stand side by side on the streets!
After two consecutive years of May 1st demonstrations in Gera, a different city was supposed to be supported this year. However, due to a large-scale fascist march in combination with a “family event” around the neo-Nazi Christian Klar with nationwide mobilization and the looming participation of right-wing extremist youth groups, we cannot stand idly by. Their aim is to misuse May 1st for their own purposes in a classic nazi manner and to present themselves close to the people.
With a final gathering in immediate vicinity to the hateful event disguised as a “family festival” with the participation of “Die Heimat” and “Freie Sachsen” cadres, as well as right-wing extremist songwriters, we will directly oppose them and show that they are not welcome in Gera or any other city.

Information on accessibility: Only a small part of the demonstration route will be at ground level and therefore barrier-free, in other places it will be somewhat steeper uphill. There will also be cobblestones. This is due to the spatial conditions in Gera as well as the fact that the fascists have already registered a route at ground level. However, it will be possible to leave the demonstration at the first incline and get directly to the final gathering area without barriers.
